Surrender

Learning to let go can take a lifetime, maybe more. Learning to flow with life and it’s rhythms can take a lifetime, maybe more. Learning to make magic out of what can so easily become mundane can take years.

Life is difficult and marvellous, full of frustration and paradoxes. There are also moments of bliss and a sense of it all coming together in connectedness. I find that to tune into these and taste them, I have to practice surrender. Practicing Yoga in many different expressions and practicing running outdoors have become the practices of surrender for me. It has something to do with being able to feel and express and understand the things that are mostly beyond words. But one can go there, into wordlessness and wait, wait for the words to come. And when the words come, they are to be treasured, again and again, they help me understand and make sense to what is going on.

So here are some of the words that I collected whilst out running.

Simple words

My words are not fancy
their message not cryptic
life has so many riddles
and I love them
don’t get me wrong
but the words I get are
not to perplex me
rather to unvex me
and bring some simplicity
and clarity, maybe
an explanation
with rhythm and rhyme
of course
the words come to me
because and when
I run
a sort of reward
an overflow
of my simple surrender
to this way
a signpost
for me
I’m so glad I followed that one.

The one that said: GO RUN, HAVE FUN.

In the moments of surrender, I find the moment and the presence of life, now, as well as the bliss of being content with it all.

How do you feel? Stressed? Content? Perplexed? Curious? Sad? Happy? Fearful? Fatigued? Hopeful? Loved? Dejected? Do you even know your own feelings? What are we to do with them? Is there a practice in your life that helps you understand yourself, your life and the world around you. Is there something in your life that brings joy and courage to face the challenges of life? I would like to hear your thought and feelings about this.

  1. Running and yoga both definitely help me understand myself and the world around me, and my place in it. They also help me respond the world around me as opposed to reacting to it. Great post, thanks for sharing!
